Created through interviews with the citizens of Reading, PA, Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Sweat deftly and unflinchingly examines the complicated ways race, class, and gender intersect in a struggling factory town. Nottage’s well-drawn characters stir us to think about how we overlook what hate can look like and how close it is to us, until we are forced to confront it.
