The cooler temperatures of spring have given way to summer, but it's still possible to view some of the works we featured in our Rights of Spring Festival online.
We're excited to share a project completed recently, a video that offers not only a glimpse of the beautiful visual elements of the Monuments of the Future performances, but a soundscape that conveys some of the striking sound design created for the piece.
Monuments performances were presented around campus. Audiences were arranged around the performers or even interacting with the piece — as in the parade led by Atlas as the official festival opening — and the sounds of a bustling campus were part of a background that blended into the sound design of the piece.
UMass campus photographer John Solem documented our performances with evocative images we are able to share in slideshow format, and sound designer Eddie Pizzano stepped in to create a soundscape for the slideshow that incorporated some of the highlights of the work he presented at the individual performances.
The piece can be viewed on YouTube and below:
Although our Monuments video is the latest to be ready for viewing, a number of other pieces are also accessible for viewing on our Festival website, including recordings or excerpts of both online and in-person work.
To view these pieces, simply scroll to the listing of the presentation you're interested in, and hover over or click to access the recording.
(Please note that not all presentations were recorded.)
