Folger Shakespeare Library Institute

The Center is a member of the Folger Institute Consortium, a collaborative endeavor involving 40 leading colleges and universities. The Folger Institute fosters research in early modern humanities at the Folger Shakespeare Library.

The benefits of membership include the opportunity to engage in scholarly and professional seminars with faculty and graduate students from around the globe, to work with the Folger's rare materials and resources, and to learn through programs exclusively designed for Institute members. For those programs, our students receive priority considerations in competitive application review, they become eligible to request grants-in-aid for travel and lodging, and, if admitted, have their registration fees automatically waived. Additionally, our students at the dissertation stage enjoy eligibility for admission to an annual dissertation seminar lead by the foremost minds in our field. For more information on the scholarly programs and current offerings at the Folger Institute, their direct course listings for this academic year are here

The Amherst Woman’s Club was founded in 1893 with the aim of providing intellectual and community space for women to gather outside of the home, regardless of social status. The Amherst Woman’s Club owns the Hills Memorial Club House a three-story Victorian mansion with beautiful grounds in Amherst, MA, which is nearly 125 years old.

The Club, which has about 100 members, has partnered with the Center for a number of public and arts events over the past twenty years and remains a key affiliate and friend of the Center.
