Six UMass Trumpeters Win ITG Scholarships

The International Trumpet Guild announced the winners of the 2021 ITG Conference Scholarships, and six of the awardees (of 45 nationally) are UMass Amherst students in the trumpet studio of Professor Eric Berlin. The students are Ethan Cogswell, Matthew Dao, Cristovao Fagundes, Marcus González, Thomas Gray, and Helkin Sosa. Additionally, Parlee Hayden, a 2019 UMass alumna now doing graduate study at the University of Wisconsin Madison, was an awardee. The scholarship winners receive a $250 cash prize, and free admission to the 2021 ITG Virtual Conference.
The International Trumpet Guild is a world-wide organization of trumpeters, formed to promote communication among trumpet players around the world and to improve the artistic level of performance, teaching, and literature associated with the trumpet, with approximately 5,000 members representing 64 countries. The organization holds conferences every year, and sponsors several ongoing competitions offering cash prizes and scholarships.
