The UMass Amherst Department of Music and Dance presents early music concerts on Nov. 29 and Dec. 1, both directed by Early Music Professor Robert Eisenstein.
On Wednesday, November 29 at 7:30 p.m., the Five College Early Music Collegium will perform a free concert of seasonal-themed music at Grace Church, located at 14 Boltwood Ave., Amherst. Collegium singers will be joined by the Five College Wind Band in performing music by Ludwig Senfl and Orlando Lassus, both music directors at the Bavarian court in the 16th century.
On Friday, December 1 at 7:30 p.m., the Euridice Baroque Ensemble will present a “garland” of baroque concerti- a cello concerto by Vivaldi, a harpsichord concerto by Bach, concerti grossi by Geminiani and Corelli, and Telemann’s wonderful Polish Concerto. Featured soloists for the concert are Emma Johnson, cello, and Victoria Suchodolski, harpsichord. The December 1 performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Bezanson Recital Hall, and is free and open to the public.
Free and secure parking for Bezanson is available in nearby University lot 71 off Massachusetts Avenue and lot 62 via Thatcher Way or Stockbridge Road; for additional options, check the UMass interactive parking map.
