Research in Music Series (RIMS) Lectures


Undergraduate Music History

BMus, Music History: Focuses on the study of the historical, stylistic, and cultural development of music; foreign language study and a senior thesis are required.  Prepares students for graduate work in Musicology or a possible career in arts management, librarianship, or music journalism.

Undergraduate Admissions Requirements: In addition to successfully auditioning for a applied lesson studio, undergraduate applicants for Music History are asked to submit one or two samples of academic writing (5+ pages each) on a musical topic.

Graduate Music History

MM, Music History: Focuses on the study of the historical, stylistic, and cultural development of music at an advanced level; a master's thesis is required. Prepares students for PhD programs in Musicology, for teaching and research in music history, or a possible career in arts management, librarianship, or music journalism.
