n-N-OUT
Anton Ginzburg
The exhibition "In-N-Out" by Anton Ginzburg is an installation that includes a mural and paintings from the VIEWs series that examines the process of viewing through a suggested 'window' into opposite directions of the diagrammatic landscape. The installation is both a reaction to and intervention in the existing space of the gallery.
Anton Ginzburg (b. 1974, St. Petersburg, Russia) is a New York-based artist, known for his films, sculptures, paintings, and text-based printed work investigating historical narratives and poetic studies of place, representation, and post-Soviet identity. He earned a BFA from The New School for Social Research and MFA degree from Bard College, Milton Avery Graduate School of Arts, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.

Palimpsest: Dialogue with a Collection Exhibition
This exhibition is something of a departure from UMCA’s series “Dialogue with a Collection”. Over the years, artists have been invited to integrate their own works with pieces they select from the museum's works-on-paper collection, which includes over 3000 contemporary prints, drawings, and photographs. This year Procheta Mukherjee Olson has opted to select one single artwork from UMCA’s collection by Yun-fei Ji, which she finds pivotal and meaningful to her own art practice.
In this Dialogue with a Collection, Procheta Mukherjee Olson explores the multiple ways in which her work parallels the formal and conceptual concerns of Yun Fei Ji’s “Three Gorges Dam Migration” (2002). A magnificent 32-feet-long hand scroll made with over 500-hand-carved woodblocks, this print from the University Museum’s permanent collection maps the massive social and psychological disruptions caused by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtse River in China.

Into Whirldz of Imagination
Marsia Shuron Harris
Fluid Artist Marsis Shuron paints vibrant abstract imagery that leads the viewer on an "other worldly" journey, that moves and flows through space. She calls these paintings, "Whirldz of Imagination." Each painting is a microcosm of the universe that engages the viewer and evokes wonder. The artist writes, "It is my intention to inspire people to exercise their imaginations, to be more playful, mindful of what they are thinking,
and to gaze long and curiously at the heavens."

Teaching Experience: Tessa Chambers
"My first few weeks of student teaching have been the most immersive compared to any semester before. Although it’s nerve wracking at times being looked over by a bunch of high school critics, most of them are incredibly forthcoming and engaged in the lessons I’m making for them. There’s always a fair share of students who will try to test your patience and push you to your limit, but I’m making sure to take it all in. Since, teaching is an equal balance of good days and bad, it’s important to be able to take it all in at the end of the day and assess both my progress and struggles. Which I’m doing constantly in my practicum."
