Soundbox
Installation and Performance by Nima Nikakhlagh
“Soundbox” looks backward, looks forward, but firmly places us in the uncomfortable “now.” It offers us all the invitation to act.
This installation/performance connects, both physically and conceptually, the official art world with the public. While critical of this “official” art world, it also relies upon the established system to draw people to the gallery (a recognized art space) in order to pull their attention to art outside in the real world. It is there that we – and art – can have the most impact.
October 15 through October 25
Opening Reception: Wednesday, October 23, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Performance at 6:00 pm.

Games of Chance
Shawn Farley & Lois Guarino
Shawn Farley’s constructions are comprised of foundry molds, wood, oil, latex and/or acrylic paint and have been both exhibited and collected extensively. To embark on her her work, she searches flea markets and seeks out junk dealers from all over the country who clean out the closed and abandoned machine foundries of their wood patterns or molds, unique pieces formed by talented craftsmen long ago that are on their way to becoming the trash of history.
Lois Guarino, artist, writer, and teacher is widely exhibited, and collected. She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants, including two fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts. With a focus on the interconnectedness of all living things, she describes the drawings on view in this exhibition as a departure for her, coming from a place beyond consciousness.
