Danyore: New Work by Mahwish Chishty

Opening Reception: Wednesday, February 5th, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

As a dual citizen (Pakistan and United States), Mahwish Chishty has focused her research on border relations of these two countries for almost a decade. Last summer, Ms. Chishty embarked on a journey from Lahore (her hometown) to Danyore (a small town in the Northern Pakistan towards Khunjerab Pass which is the world’s highest elevation border crossing and the friendliest border in Pakistan) in search of one individual, Ali Ahmedi. Ali is a local civilian from Danyore who has been sweeping the graves of Chinese workers for many years to pay respect and to honor their sacrifice.

Labyrinth of Versailles: Out of Storage into VR: New Work By: Copper Giloth

In June 2019, Copper Giloth spent a week in one of the storage facilities at the Château de Versailles taking 25,000 photographs of remnants from the Labyrinth, which was built in the gardens of the château in 1665 and removed in 1775. Working with an assistant and her collaborators John F. Dubach and Jonathan Tanant, Giloth inspected and photographed the precious few remnants of the 39 fountains that once existed in the Labyrinth.

Boundary Objects: New Work by Jeff Kasper

In Boundary Objects, the audience activates recent work by Jeff Kasper, including text, time-based media, games, and soft objects. The entire installation serves as a temporary social space for navigating interpersonal boundaries.
